Happy Summer!

We almost went loony,
from counting days till Juney,
but this afternoony, summer's finally here!
A two month vacation, for rest and relaxation.
Whatever your location, it's the best time of the year!
Visit Acme Acres for a cool time in the sun,
We've got beach, we've got heat, fun for everyone!
We're tiny, we're toony, we're all a little loony.
It's Tiny Toon Adventures come and jun the fun.
And now our song is done.

Have A Great Summer!

What In Tarnation?

I am so sorry I haven't uploaded this earlier, but I've had a busy schedule. This is finally time to review the newest Looney Tunes Show episode. This episode marks the debut of Yosemite Sam, and is practically mediocre. In this episode, Sam tries to go off the grid. He goes to make his house solar powered, but soon a huge storm comes along. The storm blocks all the sun's rays, thus making his house go blackout. Then, Sam is forced to live at Bugs and Daffy's house. The rain keeps on coming, forcing Sam to live at their house for awhile. This causes all sorts of mayhem to erupt, as Bugs and Daffy tries to make Sam leave. Anyway, this episode has little plot, and more comedic antics. In the end, Sam is forced to leave when the storm goes away. Then, another storm comes and Bugs and Daffy run inside before Sam can. So that's practically the episode. Is it any good? Well yeah it is. It's more like an old Looney Tunes cartoon than the other episodes were. I enjoyed Sam's acting and the plot, but it's pretty boring. Now let me tell you about the Merrie Melodies of this episode. This was one called Chickenhawk, and starred Foghorn Leghorn and Henry Hawk. This episode was just about Henry trying to eat Foghorn. It was odd, but okay I guess. So, the final verdict, this episode is 3 out of 5, for having a classic story line, but just being boring.

Are You Not Wearing Pants?

Sorry I'm late, but it's time for another Looney Tunes Show review. This week I had little hope for the show, after the terrible tragedy of last week. But, I discovered that this one is actually pretty good. It's about Daffy and Bugs getting sent to prison, and the insanity that follows. What happens is Bugs, Daffy, and Porky (Making his debut) go to the Grand Canyon. Daffy litters and is sent to court with the others. First, let me discuss a little running gag that they have. People start asking Porky if he's wearing pants, and he gets embarrassed. It's kind of sad to see a great character be forced to be in pant jokes. Either way, it's actually pretty funny. But anyway, Bugs and Daffy are jailed due to fighting in court. Bugs finds out that he likes jail, since he can insult people without fear of pain. Daffy on the other hand, wishes to get out. They eventually have to run away from the Crusher, and escape prison. Here, the Merrie Melodies comes up. This song is about Yosemite Sam talking about how he always gets mad. It's a mediocre song with almost terrible rhyming. So, the song is pretty lame. Now lets get back to the episode. Daffy and Bugs wind up in a small hotel in the desert. Bugs wants to get home, but Daffy is bent on the opposite. He pours paint on him and Bugs, to disguise their selves. Soon they're caught and brought back to jail. After a measly one year, the two our set free. On the drive back home, thanks to Porky, Daffy litters again. Cops start trying to pull them over, and Porky ask Bugs to hand him some pants. Well, that's the end. Was the episode any good? I think it's actually my favorite one so far. I'll give it 4 out of 5 stars, for at least being better than the second one.

The Darkest Place On Earth

I'm going to continue my look at Disney's dark history for this Controversial Cartoon Day. Today I'll look at the evil that populates the movies The Lion King, Little Mermaid, and Aladdin. Yep, those masterpieces contain some of the worse messages ever. lets take a look at the epic tale of a lion and his pride, first. There's only one subliminal message that I found in the film. In one scene, Simba lays down onto a pile of flowers. Pollen flies off the flowers, and for a second, they spell the other word for mating. Did I mention this was a kid's movie? Now lets take a look at a tale form the Arabian Nights, Aladdin. In this film, Aladdin is trying to escape the princesses pet tiger. When the camera moves away for a moment, you can vaguely hear Aladdin say, "Take off your clothes." And then, they say it again, in another scene. In this moment, Jafar and a man are approaching the lamp's hiding spot. When the sand lion comes up, you can hear a person again say, "Take off your clothes." Again, did I say this was a kid's movie. Now, lets watch the masterpiece of sexual proportions, that is Little Mermaid. On the cover, there is a view of Ariel's castle. One of the pillars seems to resemble a vital part of a man's anatomy. Oh yeah, it looks like that. Then, it gets worse. When Ursala is trying to get married, the priest seems to experience an odd little feeling that I dare not mention. Little weird, isn't it? Well, I think I've said enough for this Controversial Cartoon Day. Until tomorrow's Looney Tune Show review, I'm out.

A Great Failure

Sorry I missed Friday the 13th, I was gonna do a scary cartoon. Oh well, I hope you guys had fun. Saturday I rented the 2010 Yogi Bear movie. Dan Akroyd played as Yogi, and I quite enjoyed the film. Was it perfect? No, now let me tell why. First of all, this film feels so rushed. They give you no explanation to who Yogi or Boo Boo are. The movie no doubt believes that everyone knows who Yogi Bear is. Well, second of all, this movie has real good CGI animation. The actors interact with the animated bears really good. It seems like the cartoon creatures are actually real. Another thing, the film has the worse green-screen effects ever! You can always tell that the backgrounds are fake in certain scenes. Besides these things, the film is good. It has a decent plot, on and off acting, but one of the oddest villains ever. The evil mayor is unbelievably fake and mediocre. His motives are fine, as is his acting, but having an evil politician is a stretch. Plus, they make a love story between Ranger Smith and a new girl. It's half decent, but I wish they didn't include it. Yogi and Boo Boo are really entertaining. They can be funny at times, and always fun to watch. Their two actors do good representing them. so, all in all, the film is a mixed bag. If you can ignore the bad green screen effects and half good acting, it can be good. If you see these things as flaw, you may not like this. I give Yogi Bear a 3 out of 5, for being a mediocre film all the way.

Eight Time's The Charm

Yesterday the second episode of The Looney Tunes Show aired on Cartoon Network. So, how does this episode stack up to the first one? Well, in my opinion, this show is losing steam. Now let me tell you why. In this episode, two plots are involved. In the first plot, Daffy tries to get into a country club. He steals some one's account number and lives in paradise. He invites Bugs to play tennis one day, starting the second plot. During their game, Bugs meets Lola Bunny, the female rabbit from Space Jam. While in the movie she was actually pretty sane, in this she's all out wacky. Lola talks way to much, never stays on topic, and is JUST SO ANNOYING!!!! And her voice just makes it worse. Bugs and Lola go on a date together, showing the rabbit how bad she really is. After the date, Bugs tries every trick to get rid of Lola (He even pulls the old cross dressing routine). Still, every thing he does just makes it worse. The last straw is pulled when Lola actually thinks Bugs wants to marry her. Lola ignores everything he says, focused on marrying him. The female bunny introduces the wedding planner, played by Pepe Le Pew. That caught me attention, but then the show ruined it. They literally have Pepe say that he's been married seven times!! Wow, the show has just killed my favorite character. Well the wedding eventually comes, and Bugs tries to get Daffy's help, to no avail. Then comes the big shocker: Lola is actually in love with Pepe Le Pew. Again, wow, they just killed my favorite character! Then it get worse: Pepe actually says, "You know what they say, eight time's the charm." For the third time, wow, they killed my favorite character! Well, then it turns out that Daffy's fake account number is actually Lola's dad's. So Daffy gets stuck being the towel boy in the bathroom. So, that ends the episode. Actually there's the Merrie Melodies and the new addition, a Road Runner segment. The song is by Marvin the Martian, saying how he's not really bad. That song's very funny; made me crack up twice. Then the Road Runner cartoon is pretty good. It's done in CGI, though I wish it was pen and paper. So, the only bad thing was the real cartoon. Rene Auberjonois did a swell job as Pepe, and Eric Bauza was great as Marvin. The plot was just bad, the method of how they used the characters was bad, and Pepe's attitude was terrible!! I'm giving this episode my first official Stamp Of Lame! Oh yeah, it's that bad.

Disney's Dark Side

Believe it or not, The Happiest Place On Earth, has a bad side. Yep, Disney is actually pretty bad. They have a track record of innuendos and references. So, let me dive into the bad side of Disney. The first, and most debated, controversy was Donald Duck in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. What happened was Eddie, the boozing detective, went to a club ran by toons. The main attraction was Donald and Daffy Duck going all out war on the piano. Given Donald's speech impediment and high temper, this scene caused fans to go, "what?" For one moment, after Daffy says "your despicable", Donald mutters something incoherent. What did he say, well the fans and historians have an answer. They believe that Donald say two cuss words, one bad and one very bad. What do I think? I believe them, given the rest of these controversies. The second one comes from the same movie. In this scene, Jessica Rabbit and Eddie are sent flying through the air. Eddie's flying like a person, but Jessica's going comical. She's spinning around, making her dress have some odd motions. Then, if you freeze frame and zoom in, you can see Jessica's main part of her anatomy. That case is now close. Plus, just look up Disney's Little Mermaid moments. The movie's called Little, but the references are adults. Now, I can't go into more detail from there. So if you want to see more Disney controversy, comment on this post. I'll go into detail later.

Take It Easy

I am a reader of blogs as well as a writer of them. One of my favorite blogs to read is Familiar Faces. It is a video blog done by Chad Rocco, focusing on minor characters of media (No I didn't copy Character Corner from that). One of the last ones he did was for the Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel Bunny. After watching it, I got the urge to write a post on that. So yes, I'm doing this post on a product commercial. But thankfully, the commercials for these candies were in cartoons. So thank goodness I got something suitable for writing about! Okay well, I'm actually not posting about the candy, more the mascot, and very soon you'll see why. No, don't be baffled by reading this. This is technically an awkward post, my second in fact (The first one being the Fifi Le Fume post). Why is it very odd? Well lets dive into it. Now, let me sum up the history of Cabury. It was a candy company that is still going today. They produced caramel goodies that make your mouth water. Now, these candies are only sold in Europe, so I'm going off description of taste. But what really got you wanting to buy these things, were the commercials. Here comes the Caramel Bunny. This bunny was just a low voiced, seductive female rabbit. She was played by Mariam Margolyes, the actor of Professor Sprout in Harry Potter. Caramel Bunny would go around handing out caramel to other animals, telling them to "take it easy." Now, your parents will tell you not to take things from strangers. Obviously these animals don't listen to their parents. Anyway, this bunny was as seductive as they come (But I still enjoy French accents). This bunny is still big in Britain, having another line of candy being made. And now look,a British newspaper named the Caramel Bunny the Number Three Sexiest Cartoon Character Ever, right below Jessica Rabbit and Betty Boop. Now, I'm not able to upload a video to this post (My computer's a jerk), but the commercials are on youtube. So, anyway, I don't really know how to score this, so I just won't. So, that's all for now. P.S. I told you this was an awkward post.

Character Corner- Fan Boy

Freakazoid is never alone in his quests. He's backed up by sidekicks, including Hand Man, Foamy the Freakadog, and more. One of the most hilarious one is Fan Boy. This kid is ever celebrity's worst nightmare. An over excited fan who won't shut up! He constantly begs for autographs and asks questions. Yes, this kid, although good-natured, is a bad guy in Freakazoid. In the episode, "And Fan Boy Is His Name", Freakazoid is constantly irritated by Fan Boy. This kid wants to be a super hero. Sure every kid dreams of that, but he goes too far. He puts Freakazoid's torn up mind to the limit. How can he escape something that literally knows his every move? Well he simply show that little Fan Boy someone even cooler than Freakazoid! Who is that person? Well, drum roll please....it's MARK HAMILL! That's right. The actor of Luke Skywalker actually cameos in this episode. Do you hear that? It's the sound of your inner fan boy wanting to come out. Oh well, Fan Boy was a good soul. No doubt an insane soul, but a good one. All he wanted were friends, but his stalker like behavior is frightening. But anyway, Fan Boy will always be in my memory, as the person who scared the Joker (Mark Hamill joke). Even though Nickelodeon has a Fan Boy, there will always be just one Fan Boy. Let actors everywhere fear his name.

What's Up, Doc?

Looney Tunes is my favorite cartoon series ever made. It combined killer comedy to great animation and voice work. It will never be replaced, not even in a million years. Ever since Tiny Toons was over, people have wanted a good Looney Tunes show. Sadly, things like Loonatics or Baby Looney Tunes haven't worked out. Then, I heard some brilliant news. Someone was making another Looney Tunes show! It had Maurice LaMarche, Kath Soucie, and some other great actors. Well, did it live up to the hype? No it did not. The Looney Tunes Show is an insect compared to the original thing. Well, is it even an entertaining thing to watch? Defiantly, but not as good as the real show. Let me review the first episode to tell you why. Before I start, let me tell you some other things. Kath Soucie was actually supposed to play Lola Bunny and Sniffle, since she played them in Space Jam. But then, she was taken off the show. That flat out stunk for me. Kath is one of my favorite actresses. But let me stop there, here is my review for The Looney Tunes Show. The first episode has Bugs and Daffy living together as roommates. Daffy wants to win a game show, so decides to go on a game show about your best friend. Sadly for him, he doesn't know one thing about Bugs, despite being best friends. Anyway, they go on the game show to compete against the Goofy Gophers. The gophers beat them and win a cruise around the sea. Bugs gets angry and tells Daffy he's not his best friend. After that, the show cuts to a musical segment called Merrie Melodies. These are small songs made by the writers. They're comical, and original. This one was called Grilled Cheese, and featured Elmer Fudd. He basically sings about his love for grilled cheese. Are these segments good? They are okay I guess. But lets get back to the episode. The next day, Daffy meets Speedy Gonzales in his house. Speedy tells Daffy that to win Bugs back, he must become a real friend. So, Daffy gets them to go on a cruise and try to have fun. Well, after some stalker like minutes, Bugs tells Daffy that they're friends again. When the cruise ends, Bugs asks Daffy how he got the cruise. Daffy tells him that he used his credit card to pay for it. He goes off telling everyone Bugs' credit card number, but the rabbit stops him before he can finish. And that's the end of the episode. Now, let me give you my observation. The artwork is very distinct, and it looks good. The voices are okay. Speedy and the Gophers are good, but Bugs and Daffy are a little off. Then, the plot is pretty good. I just wish it had more funny moments. Well, let me just say that this show is a good thing to watch. Is it a good replacement for the real thing? Not at all, but it's good. So, I give The Looney Tunes Show a 4 out of 5, for being a just good show.

I'm Back!!

Well, after a rough week, I am back. And what better way to come back, than to do it on Controversial Cartoon Day! Now, I bet you think you know what cartoon I'll do. You think I'm gonna do a WWII cartoon, don't ya? Well, your wrong. I'm gonna do an actual bad cartoon, one that deserves controversy. This comes from one of the wackiest shows to be hallucinated. That show is, or was, called Ren And Stimpy. To understand it, go to a video store. Buy a DVD of this show, then drive to a drug store. Buy whatever you find then drink it. Once you're drunk, watch the show. Then, and only then, will you understand Ren And Stimpy. Now, while all of this show was mad, sometimes certain points broke your mind. Why did they drive you to insanity? Because these moments combined adult concepts to the edgy, insane show. Combined together, these moments overloaded your braincells. But what if they actually made a whole episode like this? Well, they did, and that's what I'm reviewing. So, this is "Man's Best Friend." The episode begins with a man named George Liquor buying Ren and Stimpy. He takes them home and lets them stay in his fishbowl. George then puts the two into rough training programs to house train them. That's where this gets disturbing. The man starts to make the two lay their waste on a newspaper. Next, he tells his pets not to sit on his couch. And to enforce the message, he makes them sit on it. It then rolls down the large mountain to psycho town. He give Ren 40 bucks as a punishment. Then, George trains Ren and Stimpy on guarding the house. He commands them to beat the man up. While Stimpy says no, Ren is all to happy to oblige. He beats up his master with an oar for all the verbal abuse he's gone through. When George Liquor recovers, he tells the pets that they past his test. So, the show ends happily, as the trio chew on lawn cigars. Well, what should I say about this? Once I watched it, I felt mentally disturbed. It's odd, crazy, but lets talk about the controversy. This was banned on Nickelodeon for George's verbal abuse and Ren's violent attack on his master. Personally, I agree. The attack was very brutal and descriptive, and I always thought George was just about to kill his pets. So, I give "Man's Best Friend" a 2 out of 5. If you enjoy seeing drunken images, I recommend it. If you enjoy people getting beat down and animals getting horrified, I recommend it. For anyone who is sane, steer away from this.
